FAQs

What can I expect in a counselling session?

There are many different approaches to counseling, and because you and what you bring are unique, each session will be tailored to you. A counselling session is time dedicated solely to you, allowing you to discuss whatever you wish in a safe and non-judgemental environment. Your counsellor may provide emotional support, teach communication skills, offer stress management tools, offer reflections, or ask questions to foster deeper insight and to help you move closer to your goals.

At Kinsugi Counselling, we prioritize a trauma-informed, anti-oppression, and intersectional feminist approach, ensuring that collaboration and consent are integral to every step of the process.

How long does counselling take?

This is a difficult question to answer because so much depends on what brings you to counselling, your history, your lifestyle, and circumstances. For some, counselling may only require a few sessions, while for others, it can be months or even years. It is a valid to want to know how long it may take to reach your goals, and this can be discussed after the first couple of sessions. At Kinsugi Counselling, we acknowledge that counselling is not easily accessible to all and therefore we offer a sliding scale which can be discussed in your 20 minute consult.
